Turn Air Into Water: The Airdrop Irrigation System

Edward Linacre and his Airdrop Irrigation System

The 2011 James Dyson Award went to Edward Linacre for his Airdrop Irrigation System.  This simple, but brilliant, design actually pulls water from air through condensation.  "Yeah, so what?" you say, "Every time I walk outside in the morning, there is condensation (dew) on the ground."

Well, Edward Linacre can do it in a desert.  And he can produce enough to irrigate plants.

Amazing!

While still in the beginning stages and not available for purchase... yet, this is an idea and a project to watch closely.  Very closely.

Here are a couple of interviews with Edward Linacre:

  2. Has this system been thoroughly tested. I read about the Water Seer system which worked similarly, and then found out that it didn;t reallyt work all that well. See "Water Seer Busted" on the Web.

  6. Is it possible to access a blueprint or design of this system (in English)? We’re interested in building one but would love more details. It doesn’t have to be this design exactly, but similar including equipment make/model ideas would be great. Thank you!

  7. Drip tape price Wow, cool post. I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real hard work to make a great article... but I put things off too much and never seem to get started. Thanks though.
